Delta Park (not so) Short Course

We had some more strong results from the Juniors today. The courses seem to have been longer than advertised, but we're waiting for the final word on what the scale actually was.

On the men's course, Brad says he was going for the win. He did pull off second place, ahead of coach Nic. It was a really strong run.On the women's course, Tania managed to move back to the front. She was 2 minutes ahead of Stephanie. Not far behind were Salome, Jessica Hemer and Sarah.

On the score event, Sarah and Salome went out as a team, and Jessica H went out with Anthony (I saw all the hand holding out there!)

St Davids

St Davids provided another oppurtunity for the Juniors to show how they're improving. Salome pulled off an impressive win on the womens course. Stephanie was 2nd and Jessica Lund 3rd. They dealt with the mistake on the map well.

Brad showed impressive speed on the mens course again. The seniors should be worried because he's only going to get faster in the build up to JWOC.

I didn't manage to get any action shots, but here's one of the Juniors sitting around afterwards.
And while the Juniors just have to orienteer, the moms are doing the real work. Thanks to all the orienteers for continuing to support us!

Flying Juniors

The 2009 JWOC team is getting some good results in the Short Course Series. The highlights so far have been Salome's win on the women's course at the Zoo; Brad's 3rd ahead of the WOC squad at WEC; and Stephanie's 2nd at WEC. Everyone is moving nicely and we're expecting it to improve. Watch the blog for some more results and hopefully some photos.

Stephanie Selected for JWOC

Stephanie Courtnage has been selected for the JWOC team for 2009. She'll be joining the 5 girls and 1 guy to represent South Africa in Italy in July.

Stephanie has been getting some outstanding results in the beginning of 2009. She started with a brilliant run in the Sprint Cup final and the latest is a 2nd place at the Wits Education Campus. Well done! We're looking forward to 4 years of great results as a junior.
